DRY NEEDLING

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

Myofascial Dry Needling uses super-fine filament needles (similar to those used in acupuncture) inserted into the skin to directly affect the myofascia (muscles and fascia).

Dry Needling aims to alter dysfunction that has developed within a muscle by stimulating the nervous system and changing the chemical balance within a muscle to help release trigger points or 'knots'.

Dry Needling is used as part of a Remedial Massage treatment, rather than as a stand-alone treatment.

As skin penetration occurs during this treatment, it is considered an invasive procedure and is therefore essential that your suitability for Dry Needling be determined by your therapist after a thorough consultation and assessment with you.
After this, if both you and your therapist feel it is an appropriate technique for your condition, Dry Needling will be used in addition to massage.

Health fund rebates are available for Remedial massage treatments that include Dry Needling.
